Adhesion coating is a process in which a special layer—also known as a primer or adhesion promoter—is applied to a surface. This ensures that a subsequent layer adheres more effectively. The process is frequently used to achieve a durable and resilient bond between different materials, such as metal and rubber. GOTEC uses this process, for example, for automotive parts where rubber and metal components must remain permanently bonded.
GOTEC offers various pretreatment processes to optimally prepare surfaces for subsequent coating. These include degreasing, to remove residues and oils, as well as blasting, which mechanically roughens the surface. Phosphating is also used. This is a chemical treatment that provides better corrosion protection and adhesion. These steps create a clean and active surface to which subsequent layers can adhere reliably.
Zinc-nickel plating is an electroplating process in which a layer of zinc and nickel is applied to metal parts. It offers exceptionally high corrosion protection and is ideal for components exposed to harsh environmental or temperature conditions. GOTEC primarily uses this process on metal parts, vulcanization carriers, and rubber-to-metal joints to significantly increase their service life and durability.
